Mito City is located in the center of Ibaraki Prefecture, about 100 km northeast of Tokyo.
Surrounded by lakes and greenery, the city center is home to Kairakuen Garden, one of the three most famous gardens in Japan, as well as the history and traditional culture that flourished in the castle town of the Mito Tokugawa family.
