Lake Senba

Highlight

Senba Lake, located southeast of Kairakuen, is a 3 km circumference lake that serves as a peaceful retreat for the local community.

In the surrounding area, visitors can enjoy walking and jogging, as well as rent a boat to take in the view from the lake.

On the west shore of the lake stands a statue of Tokugawa Mitsukuni (Mito Kōmon), and at “Kobun Cafe,” you can relax and enjoy a leisurely view of the lake.

In addition, around Senba Lake, approximately 700 cherry trees are planted, making it a well-known cherry blossom spot.

By public transportation

It’s a 15-minute walk from the South Exit of JR Mito Station, or a 20-minute bus ride from the North Exit Bus Terminal (platform 6) at JR Mito Station. Take the bus to the “Senba Lake” stop, and then it’s a 3-minute walk.

Parking

On the southwest side of Senba Lake, there is a paid parking lot called Senba Lake West Parking, which can also accommodate large buses.
