Mito Castle Otemon Gate

Highlight

The Otemon Gate of Mito Castle was the most prestigious gate within the castle grounds, serving as the main entrance and proudly displaying its dignified appearance until it was dismantled in the Meiji era.

The gate that can be seen today is a massive yagura-mon (turret gate), approximately 13 meters tall and 17 meters wide, which was fully restored in February 2020. It stands as a symbolic presence of the Mito Castle Ruins.
